30 things I Learned Before Turning 30.

Today is my 30th birthday! Last night after eating a piece of beautiful, calorie rich, chocolate cake with berries and blowing candles which spelled 'Don't ask' I applied my first anti-wrinkle cream (better safe then sorry) and well...nothing changed when I got up this morning. :)

For big 30 I put together 30 helpful things I learned so far, most of these you probably know but I feel like some I need to still repeat to myself daily....

  1. Always know your priorities. Some will be set by your head, some by your heart. Learn to know the difference and learn to recognize timing.
  2. Be kind to people. Do one random act of kindness a day: donate, help, give your change to a homeless person and look him/her in the eye. Nobody ever became poor by helping others.
  3. Family is important be patient and respectful even when they are super annoying.
  4. No matter what you do and where you travel, always find room in your weekly schedule for friends.
  5. Call your mother once in a while, even though she always acts as if she knows it all.
  6. Break ups are not as much drama as I acted them to be, I am happy some men are left in my past.
  7. Career doesn't define you as a person. Relationship doesn't define you as a person either. Have a good life balance so you don't fall apart once a career in one company or a relationship with a certain guy comes to an end.
  8. Single is fabulous. It's nice to feel loved by a right person.
  9. Love yourself first. This means taking care of your body, your spirit and continuing to learn new things.
  10. Go for quality over quantity both when it comes to men and shoes.
  11. Put your happiness first. If you are not happy you can't make anyone else happy.
  12. People remember how they are treated. Be kind to everyone. It's easy and lazy to be rude.
  13. Being accessible makes you indispensable.
  14. Give credit when credit is due. You can also shine by giving others praise.
  15. Don't do or say to others what you wouldn't like to be said or done to you. Duhh!
  16. Be your own hero! Don't wait for a men to save you. Save yourself.
  17. Take responsibility for your own life, have a dream, make a plan and follow it as dream without a plan is just a wish.
  18. Help other women, this is a men's world and women need to help other women to succeed.
  19. Never be jealous, learn from those your admire but be your own kind of successful and your own kind of beautiful. Everyone is unique.
  20. Money is important. Being fashionable doesn't mean spending more then you earn. Plan and control your finances. Always have minimum three to six monthly paychecks set a side.
  21. You are not better nor worse then the another person. Act like it.
  22. It's never to late to change your life for better. Keep dreaming, keep working.
  23. Learn how to cook, you will have more money left over for shoes.
  24. Don't judge others. Period. Live and let live.
  25. Get over yourself. There are times in love, career and life in general when you will need to compromise over your principles and pride.
  26. Listen more then you speak (this one I am still learning).
  27. Leave work stuff at work (including frustration). I learned from a divorced colleagues at work that it's ok to say no at work sometimes if it takes to much from your family and to leave office issues in the office. Home should be a stress free zone.
  28. Learn to disconnect. This includes Facebook, email etc. Never take your laptop to bed, don't have TV in your bedroom and don't charge your phone next to your head while sleeping.
  29. Sleeping 8 hours a day is crucial. It's important for your beauty, health and work success. After all, we all look the years we deserve.
  30. Staying longer in the office doesn't make you more productive or dedicated. Get a life.

Is there anything you want to add to my big 30 list? :)
Would love to hear it! For all of you pushing 30...just want to say...it's not that bad at all!
