Every year we are seeing the same old New Years Eve sequins and little black dresses! Not to say something is wrong with a good old LBD but it's getting boring & way to safe. One of the days in the year when you can go all out and dress up, decorate and bedazzle all you want is most definitely New Years Eve! Here are some suggestions.

Wear Head to Toe Silver

Silver shoes are trending right now so no matter if you choose 70s disco booties, oxfords or stilettos your legs will be noticed! Top trendy silver shoes with tuxedo dress or a space shuttle silver A-line cut dress and right accessory and you will shine like the star! Drama red wine lips allowed!

Replace The Dress With Sexy Jumpsuit

Because of the pant bottom a lot of us stray from jumpsuits for festive occasions. Jumpsuits can be really sexy and flattering and this gold sequin one with some 'side boob' action is definitely a stunner. It doesn't need much of accessorizing and adding more then just a dash of color may be to much so look to do a red lipstick and or a purse or shoes, not both. Keep your coat, jewelry and rest of the accessory as neutral as possible.

Look Delicate in Baby Pink

Pink will be a color of spring and what better way to announce it then to wear it for New Years! As pink is very gentle and romantic color you can add some feather accessory to it and toughen it up with black nail polish and sky high leather sandals.

Be a Queen for a Day

At the same time romantic and powerful - wear your gold crown and face mask with crochet nude dress and romantic gold vintage clutch and red heels. Dolce & Gabanna drama runway look can be reproduced for less.

Rock Old Holywood Glamour in Velet Dress

Red velvet super sexy Jessica Rabbit inspired cocktail dress is a head turner on it's own. Glam it up with white faux-fur boa and accessorize with gold jewelry, shoes and vintage gold round clutch for total Hollywood look.

I hope you find these looks inspiring and that you will bravely try one of these texture and color looks for your New Years celebration!

Live it up ladies & have lots of fun!

Few months before you are due your doctor will give you a list of what to pack in a hospital bag for your baby and yourself. In this video I am sharing what I packed in Paca Pod Hospital Bag Firenze for my baby girl Anabela who is due on March 10th.

Bellow you can see the list I got from my doctor and additional things I packed as well as recommendations where to shop for your future baby online according to my experience:

BABY BAG CONTENT FOR HOSPITAL

You want to have all of the clothes washed in special detergent for baby clothes (no need to iron all anymore) and for your and your partners convenience packed separately for each day. Your list of items for the hospital might differ depending on country where you are giving birth and the hospital/clinic quality. For example I am giving birth in private hospital where diapers, creams and stuff like that are provided by hospital both for mother and the baby.

The type of clothing and blankets you bring for the baby will also depend on the time of the year and climate you are giving birth in. You want to keep your baby warm but you don't want to overheat your baby.

I am giving birth in Spain in Spring so this is what my doctor recommended to bring:

2x muslins or swaddle blanket
5x Cotton kimono tops
5x Full outfits (top & bottom or bodies, socks & cotton cap)
3 cotton bath towels
1x Hair brush & hair comb
1x Cotton or wool blanket
2x bib (optional)
2x cotton gloves (optional)
10x diapers for newborns (optional)
baby lotion and body wash (optional)
2x pacifier (optional)

PACA POD DIAPER BAG FIRENZE

Since I am super picky about my bags I was dreading all of those horrible looking diaper bags! Finally my good friend recommended Paca Pod brand where they have a beautiful selection of smartly designed, versatile and beautifully looking bags. I choose Firenze leather bag which I am sure I will wear for many years as it can serve as a baby diaper bag but also as a carry on for me later on.

I really hope this video & post helped you plan what you might need for your baby's hospital bag. Do let me know if you have more suggestions! I would love to read your comments!
I will put together a seperate post with what I packed in my own hospital bag. :)

Photo and original recipe: www.eatwell101.com

What are you usually eating for Christmas morning?  My boyfriend and I have a tradition of eating a very rich brunch and then a late dinner as we like to sleep in.

For brunch I usually prepare this amazing Italian Olives, Bacon & Cheese bread and then we eat it with mushroom omelet, rocket & tomato salad with some coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice.

I usually thought that making a bread just takes to much time and it's complicated so I never tried to make it but last two years I have been preparing this bread, it's really super easy and its so delicious it's gone in minutes!

I recommend that you read a full recipe with tips before you try to make it so you don't repeat my mistakes and so it comes out even more delicious for you! :)

INGREDIENTS

1 large onion
100 g (3.5 oz) bacon
4 eggs
148  ml (5 fl oz) of white wine
98 ml (3.3 fl oz ) olive oil
250 g (2.5 cup)  all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
5 g (1tsp) of baking powder
150 g (5 oz) grated swiss/cheddar  cheese
200 g (7 oz) cooked ham
100 g (3.5 oz) black pitless olives
100 g (3.5 oz) green pitless olives
2 small spoons (2 tbsp) chopped fresh parsley

PREPARATION

Preheat the oven to 180C (360 Ft).
In a large bowl, whisk together liquid preparation: the wine, oil, eggs and salt.
Next, in separate bowl, mix the flour and baking powder and stir it into the liquid preparation.

Chop the onion and fry it in a skillet with a bit of olive oil on medium heat, once onion get's golden color add the bacon and cook for a few minutes, drain the oil and set a side (onion & bacon) for a minute. Cut the olives, parsley and cut the ham to small pieces.

Add all ingredients (onion & bacon, olives, parsley and ham and grated cheese to the dough mixture and mix well.

Pour into a well oiled or buttered loaf pan (I used 9 by 5 inches). First time I made this bread I lined the pan with baking paper and the bread came out much prettier then this time so if you have baking paper, use it to line the pan!

Bake in the oven for 1 hour at 180°C, test to see if done with sticking fork in the middle - it should come out clean! :)

Let me know how it came out for you!

Merry Christmas ladies!

So here is one post for the guys who are absolutely clueless what to get for his girlfriend as a holiday gift but can also be a useful starting point for all of us who are last minute shoppers and haven't purchased holiday gifts for our girlfriends, mothers and sisters.

BUY HER SHOES.

Advice #1 - BUY HER SHOES! :) Do you think she has more then enough shoes so you will just skip this advice? You are wrong.

If you guys are already dating for a while and you know (you must know) her correct shoe size buy her most fabulous shoes or a purse because this is something every girl will love. Yes, shoes might be a risky purchase but if you are confident of her shoe size, just check out her other shoes and see if she prefers round toe or pointy toe shoe, measure her average heel hight and make sure that shoes fit true to size (you can read it in product description if you shop online of ask a sales lady in the store). It's important for a shoe to be leather inside and out if you can afford it so they are of a good quality and fairly comfortable. Also, if for some reason you are unsure if she will like them ask about return or exchange policy and get a gift recipe.

See bellow my proposal for type of shoes you simply can't go wrong with as every girl needs to have a pair in her closet:

FABULOUS GIFTS UNDER $100.

If a lady you are shopping for is a hard working women and has a some sort of an office job and/or travels often stationary gifts might be a good choice (please go beyond a funny coffee cup). When I say stationary gifts I am thinking of a fabulous planner for 2016 (like   LaKatWalk Planner hint! hint!;)), designer mobile phone cover, travel kit, passport leather case and a business card holder. If she is a passionate coffee drinker like me (or whine drinker) get her 'to go' Starbucks or designer cup so she can prepare her favorite coffee at home and thus also save some money for more shoes!

GIFT UNIQUE DESIGNER ITEMS.

When it comes to clothing materials cashmere is a girl's best friend. Wrap your favorite lady in this luxurious fabric and she will be happy forever! :) I recommend a classic cashmere (loose fit) sweater, cashmere scarf, gloves and hat set (popular ones now are the one with furry pom pom), wool slippers or small designer clutch. If  she is a fashion lover you might want to look into buying table top designer books.

Great websites to buy such gifts are  Trendcy,   Nordstrom, Etsy etc.

CUSTOMIZED GIFTS FOR HER.

When you customize a gift it shows that you thought it through a step further then an average person would. A special customized gift becomes more then just a holiday gift, who ever get's it usually remembers better whom they got it from and for what. Fabulous things you can customize are things like jewelry box, coffee mug, luxurious bathrobe or (yes again) a cashmere sweater which you can add initials to.

I hope you found this gift guide at least inspirational if not helpful! :)
If you have more ideas or wishes what you would like to get as holiday gift share them in comments!

In today's post I am unboxing Emmie dress by Croatian Fashion designer Katarina Džale. Emmie is Katarina's new brand and it is based on customizable tunic dresses and dresses which you can customize with interchangeable messages which you place in the front sheer zipper pocket located on the chest of the dress.

FABULOUS PACKAGING.

I personally love Emmie's simple but chic cardboard tube packaging with metal cap. The color around the logo on the top of the metal cap indicated the color of the dress inside.

EXPRESS YOUR DAILY MOOD WITH A DRESS.

With each Emmie dress or tunic dress you get two free messages. You get to choose the language of the message (Croatian or English) and type of the message you would like. Dresses have short sleeves so you also get the long sleeves in the package along with a dress which you can wear on your arms for cold weather. These dresses are made of viscose with stretch, they are made of a great quality viscose fabric and represent a truly innovative way to express your daily mood with a dress!

TUNIC DRESS vs. THE DRESS.

Emmie dresses and tunic dresses are available in 5 different colors and two cuts. Emmie dress is knee length straight cut while tunic dress is a bit shorter up front and longer on the back. If you get bored of the messages you have you can always buy more of the messages from   Emmie webshop or via   Trendcy.com.

What message would you like to have on your Emmie dress ladies?

I am sure all of you ladies agree that shopping for men is much harder then shopping for your girlfriends or your family members.

Most men unlike women don't have a never ending 'want' list out of which they pick something and then try to 'hint' their other half what they want just on time for holidays or birthdays, they just go and get what they need so you really need to pick their brain or think long and hard to get them something they will like. Most men prefer more practical, useful or funny gifts versus us ladies who just 'have to have item of our desi(gn)re'.

Last couple of years I managed to find more great gifts for my boyfriend browsing online shops then by going around the stores in shopping malls. Rather then getting one bigger gift I try to put together a variety gift box with some small stocking stuffers like: socks, boxers, travel games, t-shirt with funny sign or coffee mug and then one or two bigger items I am 100% sure my boyfriend will love. If there is a chance I try to customize at least one of the gifts with his initials, jersey number or a name.

I DON'T KNOW HIM/HER SO WELL! WHAT SHOULD I BUY?

If you just started dating someone you probably don't know him/her that well so you might not know much about what he likes. In these kind of cases you probably want to go for a more generic but still nice gift or try to remember a few things you do know about him and use that as a starting point. Based on the 'type of guy' you perceive him to be you might look at 'shop by type' section to get some ideas.

When I say generic gifts I am thinking accessory items like a beautiful set of scarf, gloves and a cap, a tabletop book on the subject he likes such as sports team, a writer or a singer,  cosmetic bag or a warm cashmere sweater (if you know his size).

CUSTOMIZED GIFTS.

Some of the things you can easily customize are clothing accessory like: toiletry bag (I had a small metal plate engraved with name and glued to designer leather toiletry bag for my boyfriend last year at the bottom floor of department store where they make keys) items like: button up shirt, a tie, sweater, a bath rope,  scarf, necklace pendant, bracelet or cufflinks can be easily customized with initials (some websites offer custom shops) at any tailor shop.

Some of my favorite custom shops are: J.Crew monogram shop, Knot Standard, The Monogram Shops, Etsy gifts for Him, Gifts.com and Mark & Graham.

SHOP BY TYPE.

A Business Man.

Business people travel a lot so you can get him a toiletry bag and fill it up with travel size cosmetics he usually uses. Great gift for travelers is also a luxurious travel pillow and leather passport cover or business card holder. A nice customized gift for a business man can be a framed office photo of you two or (if he is more high tech) USB photo frame with your photo slide show.

Sporty Guy.

A sporty guy might like a yearly tickets to watch his favorite team or a biography or a signed jersey of his favorite player. Most men are also into technology so if your boyfriend is a runner or an athlete you can get him one of those running fuel bands or order customized pair of new Nike shoes for him.

A Student.

If you are both students you might be on a budget and look to buy or make each other one great gift. A great gift for a student is always a Starbucks gift card, a warm holiday accessory set or a variety box with useful or just a fun things for a dorm room.

A Tall Guy.

Boy do I have experience shopping for a Tall but not Big guy, which is a huge difference (all of you who date basketball players would know this). For my tall boyfriend who does have a great sense of fashion but doesn't have to many hobbies I usually get at least one new clothing item (no matter the price) cause I know how hard it is for him to find it. Also, I look to get something fun, useful and/or funny like a board game (which we can play together and he can take it to play with his teammates while traveling). I always also add some accessories which I then customize for him for a bit of a personal touch.

Some of my favorite Tall Guy shops are: Old Navy, Banana Republic, Gap, Debenhams, J.CrewHigh & Mighty , Tall Boys Apparel , Boden , Asos Longline , Hanes Tall and Odd Ball.

DIY GIFTS.

If you are good at making things and your boyfriend or husband has all he needs you might want to make him a very personal gift he will always treasure and it will always make him think of you and effort you put into making something so personal for him. Great ideas for handmade gifts might be a personalized travel kit for the car, a personalized mug (you can just buy a permanent markers and blank white coffee mug in a China store and write a special note on it) or a bookmark with a photo of you two together, your pet or your child.

Did you already buy, make or order a gift for your boyfriend?
Do you have any ideas to share? :)

Source: Dresses from Asos Maternity

Today I am having one of those sucky pregnancy days with now being in 26th week (in 7th month) I woke up all cheerful and then felt really sickish after breakfast which continued with plates falling from my hands and breaking, my back hurting, baby kicking, nipples itching ohhh so glamorous isn't it? :)

Anyways, an hour later with ice packs on my boobs, drinking chocolate tea and eating white chocolate with nuts (please don't judge) I decided to online-shop for maternity holiday dress and even though usually a choice of maternity clothing is not so good in stores and a bit better online I managed to find some fantastic dresses which will hopefully make me feel less like a fat, swollen and grumpy pregnant women and more like chic, glittery and fabulous lady with a decent size baby bump. Girl can at least hope so!

When it comes to maternity evening dresses the same 'rules' apply as when you are wearing evening dress when not pregnant. You want to show your one best feature and then cover other things. For example in pregnancy your boobs will literary bloom which is particularly exciting for girls who usually are not to boobilicious so go ahead and show them off with beautiful maxi or cocktail dress with decent cleavage, however, in this case cover your legs a bit more.

MATERNITY MAXI EVENING GOWNS

If you got some more weight in your legs and stomach then you hoped for or you are like me tall in third trimester of pregnancy you might decide to go with long, flowy and romantic gown which is not to fitted so you will be able to wear your fabulous pregnancy underwear without showing panty lines. great thing about wearing a maxi gown (especially if you are tall yourself) is that you can get away without heels and thus be more comfortable during the whole evening.

MATERNITY COCKTAIL DRESSES

In case you are in first and second trimester and your belly is not to big, you feel comfortable showing your not yet swollen ankles in those pretty holiday heels you might want to go with a beautiful sequin cocktail dress. I found a great choice on  Asos Maternity and  Glama Mama. There is a great selection of loose fitting but also stretchy but fitted mini dresses which are really festive but also comfortable enough for you to spend whole evening in.

MATERNITY CLASSIC STRETCH EVENING DRESSES

Classic cotton , silk, cashmere or wool little black dress is a great investment piece in any case, you might choose to purchase a better quality branded evening dress which you can then also wear for less festive occasions during the year as well. These dresses are a great choice if you recently gave birth and you really want to be comfortable in stretchy dress while your body is recovering. Another great thing is that you can play around more with accessory and glamorize a simple one color dress with gorgeous necklace, shinny clutch and heels.

Yesterday we had guests over and we were out all day so since I had only an hour to prepare a dinner and appetizers for four people I decided to do this very simple but really delicious salad. I usually make this Moroccan Eggplant & Chickpea Salad with cuscus and for me this makes a full meal but yesterday I made it along with another salad, gnocchi and Argentinian steaks.

INGREDIENTS:

4 small red onions
2 medium eggplants
150 ml extra virgin olive oil
800 g jar of chickpeas
a bit of rocket salad

Sauce ingredients:

400 ml natural or greek yogurt
1 teaspoon of smoked paprika
4 tablespoons of fresh chopped mint leaves

PREPARATION:

Preheat the oven on 200C. Wash and dry eggplants and peel the onions. Cut the eggplants into bite size pieces and red onions into wedges. Put the cut eggplants and onions into a bowl and season them with olive oil, salt and pepper. Spread out cut eggplant and red onions on to a baking tray and roast in the oven for 20 minutes or until the vegetables are softened and lightly browned (onion will look slightly caramelized).

While eggplant and red onion is in the oven, drain and wash chickpeas, dry them and spread them out into a long but shallow serving plate, season them with salt and pepper. Make the dressing by mixing yogurt, paprika and chopped mint (I used a a blender for mixing cause I can't chop mint tiny enough manually).

Serve the warm baked eggplant and onions over chickpeas and spoon over mint yogurt sauce and voila! Delicious salad is ready! :)

Trust me you will love this dish even if you are not a huge eggplant fan! It's super simple and healthy!

Let me know how you like it once you give it a try!

George Constanza from Seinfeld once said "I would wrap myself in velvet if it was socially acceptable." I kind of feel the same way about velvet. I love how velvet feels against my skin and really enjoy wearing it in numerous shapes and weights ranging from vintage inspired lingerie to structured suit jackets, romantic midi dresses and 70's inspired jumpsuits.

Last year I got a custom made pink A-line dress made out of heavy velvet from a designer friend Alex Dojcinovic and this year we can see velvet being fashionista's favorite go to material for both day and after during dark hours. In her last Fall collection she did another version of the same dress but a bit lighter in weight (on the photo bellow). In her last Lei Lou by Alex Dojcinovic runway show Aleksandra showed variety of gorgeous midi dresses appropriate equally for work and evening cocktails or wherever else lady chooses to wear them.

BEST FALL VELVET COLORS

I myself particularly love to wear it in royal green color and burgundy red but recently more popular are gold and gray tones. My favorite way to wrap myself in velvet is most definitely a dress as number one choice but since recently I also got my eye on velvet 70's inspired lace up top jumpsuits and tops (loose fitting of course due to my pregnancy).

Velvet pieces are not only to be worn as evening wear, lately mass market brands have been launching velvet camisole tops and t-shirts which you can wear as part of casual look during the work day.

VELVET ACCESSORIES

Big designer name brands like YSL, Ralph Lauren, Charlotte Olympia, D&G and many others always find a way to incorporate this luxurious fabric into their collections both when it comes to clothing and accessories. I love burgundy red backpack for this Fall.

When it comes to velvet accessories you should take a special care of them as this fabric is much more delicate then leather. Although velvet shoes may look very cool as they age, purses you should be careful not to wear them tightly close to your body as the fabric might shed.

WHERE TO SHOP VELVET PIECES

When it comes to velvet pieces my shops of choice are always Free People, Nasty Gal, Urban Outfitters and Reformation.

URBAN OUTFITTERS - Velvet Cami, Great Pretender Velvet Dress, Velvet Overall and my favorite Ecote Velvet Lace Up Dress.

FREE PEOPLE -   Vienna Mini Dress,   Velvet Brim Hat,   Red Velvet Jacket and a closet staple    Velvet Maxi Slip.

HOW TO CARE FOR VELVET?

Whenever in doubt on how to care about a velvet clothing piece or accessory always take it to professional dry-cleaners.  Use a steamer to remove mild creases. Turn the garment inside out and point the nozzle of a steamer at the creases and folds. You may also hang the item in a steam-filled bathroom.

Do you have a velvet piece in your closet and if so what is it and how do you wear it?
