jeans
As probably most of you I am religiously devoted to pair
every new trend to my favorite pair of jeans. I noticed that as I am growing
older and my body and life habits are changing a bit (just as fashion trends
are changing) I am looking to wear different types of jeans. One thing however remains constant and that
is my height along with my long legs. J
All the long legged girls know that there are few brands
that offer fabulous selection of women’s jeans that accommodate long legs. True Religion is one of these brands.
They have extended
sizes sections for those with really long legs.
HOW I SHOP FOR
JEANS
Since I don’t shop for jeans that often I prefer quality over
quantity so I end up getting a pair of designer jeans, which I am sure will
last for at least a couple of years. My
challenge is always to find pair of jeans which have a bit of stretch, which
flatter my butt, fit nicely on the waist (I prefer mid-waist to high waist
rather then low) and are long enough for my legs so I don’t look like I
constantly have a flood at home! I own about 20 pairs of jeans and even though
I am a girly girl wearing skirts and dresses often, jeans are my go-to item, which
serve me as a base for styling my daily looks.
Here are some tips on how to choose jeans ideal for your
body shape. Choose jeans that work with your figure! You want to choose a pair
of jeans (color matters) that will balance out your ‘problem’ areas and draw
attention to your most flattering features.
Hourglass
body: choose wide-legged jean with mid-rise and flat front.
Pear
shape body: look for a pair of flare jeans in dark or medium wash with
higher rise on the back and a bit lower up front.
Boyish
figure: go for a boot-cut pair of jeans with more flare on the bottom, as
this will add a curve to your figure.
Apple
shape body: choose mid-raise jeans which will fall just a bit below belly
button to cover your mid section.
Flat butt:
look for a pair of jeans with higher back pockets; this will help make your
butt look more rounded.
Big booty: try to find a pair of jeans with lower and
closely together positioned pockets on the back; they will help to make your
butt a bit smaller.
Pettit
body: boot cut and skinny jeans will work perfectly for your figure,
especially in light wash, grey or white to attract more attention to your
curves.
Tall,
lean body: look for a straight leg jean or flare jeans to get that great
fit all the way down the leg.
Plus size
body: look for a straight or a boot cut jeans with medium rise. Try to
avoid distressed jeans as they make parts of body look bigger.
Consider your lifestyle to get more wears of the designer
jeans you are purchasing. If your budget allows you to buy one pair only, go
for dark wash or black jeans which are appropriate both for work and casual
wear. While, if you are looking for casual jeans only, go for medium to light
washed and polished silhouette. Try different styles if you are unsure which
will fit you best and be sure to try to sit down, walk around and bend over in
jeans to be sure they are not to tight on you.
SPRING JEANS LOOKS
When it comes to jeans style for Spring I love to combine
white jeans with blue denim button up and heels or camel trench coat, navy and
white striped shirt and flats. Last
season I invested in fabulous pair of red moto jeans that look really
flattering on my legs, they make them look skinnier around the knee and longer.
MY FAVORITE TRUE
RELIGION JEANS
True Religion is
that designer jeans brand for men and women that is not only celebrity favorite
brand but also brand with proven quality. Once you invest in a pair, you know
you will get your money’s worth and wear a pair of they jeans for jeans to
come.
My current favorite styles are:
Halle
Mid Rise Super Skinny Biker Jean in white as they are high enough for me to
tuck in my button ups for more dressy look and look great with my V-neck
t-shirts for casual look.
European
Beth Super Skinny Moto Jean in black with gusseted knees and rock &
roll zippers on side pockets. These look super flattering on the butt as well!
For the Spring &
Summer I love Halle
Mid Rise Super Skinny Biker jean in sunset coral color. These have similar
gusseted knees as European Beth Super Skinnies but these are a bit distressed.
Are you looking to buy new pair of jeans for Spring? What
are you biggest challenges when looking for a perfect pair?
Everybody has their favorite pair of jeans!
We feel good wearing them, they fit perfectly, we love how our butt looks like and they go with every outfit we can imagine. My issue with jeans is usually length. The type of jeans that usually fit me well are long and skinny jeans with a bit of elastin. Usually I stick with two trusted brands and buy black or dark blue colored denim so I don't experiment to much with different fits and colors.
Well, this was until I discovered Dragonfly by JClaire and their Barcelona tile straight leg white jeans with hand painted Barcelona tile motives.
Since I live in Barcelona I was inspired to look for similar motives around the city and found some interesting frescos at Plaza Espana which also served as a great place to take photos and bring Barcelona tile jeans to their 'home environment'. :)
JClaire creates wearable art through the use of soft fabric paint dry brushed by hand one color at a time, building and blending coordinating colors to give the design a fade-in fade-out effect. Some pursue happiness, others create it.
Other then great quality of these american made jeans I love how unique they are with their patterns and (Thank You Joan Claire!) perfect butt fit and leg length. They came packed in beautiful reusable cotton eco bag and the story behind the brand was written on a beautiful note.
Philanthropy is one of the key aspects of this brands mission so 5% of net profits goes to causes that need funding to help advance their mission be it research, awareness or education. Some of these are Human Rights Campaigns, Children Cancer Research etc.
Owning a pair of Dragonfly by JClaire painted jeans is for that independent, unique individual who wants to make a statement with their own original look. Unlike mass produced printed jeans, each garment is individually hand painted specifically for You! :)

Mavi Jeans by Hussein Chalayan
Inspired by the article I read in today's edition of WWD I decided to dedicate this post to current trends in denim business. The article was about recently held Bread&Butter trade fair in Berlin where many companies came to present and retailers and brands to make orders for fabrics for upcoming seasons.
Many denim company representatives talked about this ever more-challenging European business climate, a need to diversify out of their signature products to meet and anticipate consumers demand.
While denim color more or less remains pervasive there are other trends which have shown to be a key diversifiers in denim Premium market (read jeans which cost more then $150) are:
- customary themes: color, pattern and sustainability
- highlighting pattern and texture
- softer denim, whether it be stonewashed, dyed or lasere
- tribal print jeans
- gold and silver metallic jeans
- jeans with
- snake patterns and velvet prints
- the embellished pocket
Overall the new trend is "soft and light" jeans in terms of fabrication.
Here are some ways the leading denim companies are trying to stand out in the crowd and bring in more consumers.
G-Star Raw Lookbook
the bulk of G-Star's sales is men’s, and now the brand is determined to take its women’s denim into new areas, showcasing a full collection of women’s shorts, dresses, jackets and shirts, along with accessories and shoes.
I have never purchased a pair of G-star jeans, but I remember from the stores that they are a good quality jeans and a good fit, their price was not a fit for me however so I ended up buying Salsa jeans instead. What I liked on the other hand was a clean look and pocket design.
Georgia May Jagger for Hudson Jeans
Hudson Jeans is a well known British denim brand loved by many celebrities like the face of their most recent campaign Fall 2011.with Georgia May Jagger in the main role.
Hudson's signature detail is a flip pocket but they are certainly scanning the market well and following the trends and producing multi-color and metallic stretch jeans.

Turkish denim brand Mavi Jeans has differentiated by partnering with Turkish-Cypriot designer Hussein Chalayan who created a jeans wear line exclusively for women geared to the premium customer. Chalayan Mavi jeans, now in its third season, retails for $179 to $369.

DIESEL
Diesel has been for years my favorite denim company. Although their jeans is quite expensive (at least here in Croatia) and in terms of customer service sales ladies in their stores are not really nice, I love that they have skinny jeans in tall sizes. I have really long legs and was always able to find a great quality denim jeans in Diesel which lasted for more then 3 years a pair.
Iconic fashion photographer Steven Meisel creates the series of modern Screen Tests, featuring some of top models like: Karen Elson, Hanne Gaby Odiele, Jamie Bochart, Fei Fei Sun, Coco Rocha, Mirte Maas, Sid Ellisdon, Ethan James, Yuri Pleskun, Sallieu Jalloh and Dae Na.

CITIZENS OF HUMANITY
Citizens of humanity is not just a brand, it is actually a concept of living, a learning of how to be a good citizen. This brand is quite complex in its simplicity actually. My favorite are the bellow selected jeans from Fall 2012. collection with various patterns and textures, I particularly love the lipstic red high-wasted jeans, but all of these can be worn casual and dressy.

I loved loved loved their amazing editorial (not jeans) which you can check out on my Tumblr blog here.
SALSA JEANS
I already listed Salsa Jeans as one of my top 10 fashion brands, and it truly is, and this is why...I first discovered Salsa jeans a year or so ago when I started to frequent to Spain as my boyfriend lives there. Salsa is a Portuguese brand sold now all over the world and what I like about their jeans is an amazing but fit they have. Indeed, Salsa jeans has a unique technology of tailoring in which jeans hug your curves, especially your butt and it lifts it up to look amazing! I got a skinny black jeans (they did fade in color a bit) and a straight leg dark jeans which I still wear and adore. They have a bit of a stretch in them and they do not relax after couple of wears which is great.

Smaller jeans brands seem to be slowly taking over the market piece by piece, some of these are: Mother, Current/Elliott, Big Star, Agave Denim, Genetic Denim and AG Adriano Goldschmied, Miss Me, Rock &Revival, 3x1, Paige Denim etc.
What are your favorite denim brand lovelies and why?

In my last post writing
about Rugby Ralph Lauren finally opening their first European store here in
Europe (London) I immediately wrote a disclaimer about not being able to be
totally objective when commenting on this brand since it grew quite close to my
heart when I worked there couple of years back. I loved it all, magical window
displays, company’s social responsibility and projects, super cool &
tremendously creative team of people I worked with and brands edgy-preppy
clothes of course.J
At the time I worked at University
Place store in NYC, Rugby was a bit more edgy featuring all of those fabulous fashion
forward dresses, basic Ralph Lauren pieces spiced up with edgy sculls,
collegiate patches creating classic but also rebellious and rockerish young look.
My favorite pieces many of
which I still wear are many, most of my closet is filled with Ralph Lauren
pieces with favorite being: Rugby skinny jeans, distressed leather valets and
belts, cashmere sweaters and cardigans, cable knit sweaters for work in pastel
colors, classic gold button navy blazer, rugby dresses and scull tote and of
course lovely bow ties and suspenders.
Even one of the world’s most
popular fashion bloggers Susie Bubble likes to wear Rugby’s scull chinos.

Rugby’s spring collection
will hit it stores on January 31stin all of its locations in US and
London in Europe but it is already available for purchase online.
„It's the kind of clothes that mothers and
daughters can wear, in terms of concept...
It's not about age. It's about taste, and it's
about lifestyle.
I believe women of all ages can wear anything.“
