NAUSEOUS FIRST TRIMESTER

First three months (12 weeks) of my pregnancy were really bad as I felt very nauseous, couldn't focus on work and I generally felt rather sick. On top of it all, it was a very hot Summer and I was staying in Dubrovnik in between visiting my boyfriends parents and moving into a new apartment which was suppose to be ready to move in end June but it wasn't until more then a month later so it was quite of a nervous Summer all together on top of my nauseous start of pregnancy. The first three months my stomach didn't grow much so I didn't have to worry about getting pregnancy clothes.

FIRST BODY CHANGES

First change I noticed on my body was growing boobs. They were just getting bigger and bigger which was quite visible if you are starting from C cup. My bra's started to bother me so I was mostly wearing my cotton Victorias Secret Pink lounge bralets.

When I announced my pregnancy to my closest girlfriends they advised me to try maternity bra's which are not very attractive looking to say the least, I still purchased a few in Muller & H&M, I wore them a bit but they just weren't comfortable enough.

Now when I am almost 5 months pregnant the lounge bralets I used to wear don't provide enough support either.  As I am used to wearing bra's with some padding and wiring these breastfeeding maternity bra's didn't do it for me both when it comes to comfort and aesthetics so I just went ahead and asked a lady in lingerie store to measure my current breast size and I purchased a few pretty lacy bra's with proper support for my current size and I also got one size up for next few months.

Of course, this is a more expensive way to go about it but when you anyways feel bloated and your body is changing daily in the ways you never imagined, sexy lingerie makes you feel a little bit better about your 'glowing & growing body'.

MY FIRST MATERNITY CLOTHES PURCHASE

The first two items of maternity clothing I got were under slight duress by a girlfriend of mine in Croatia and motivated by my boyfriend who noticed that might high rise skinny jeans have started leaving a light pink red line on my stomach. I was having a lunch with a friend in Zagreb and I told her how although I love, follow and work in fashion I never noticed maternity clothes in stores.
So we walked into Zara (back in September) and I asked if they have maternity clothes and the sales lady gave me the weirdest look and said "Nouu!" (little did she know they will launch maternity line a month later).

So we went to H&M and they didn't have a big selection but they had some basics so a friend of mine and very nice sales lady persuaded me to try my first maternity jeans which to me looked horrendous but they actually grew on me now and they are indeed very comfortable with soft cotton part hidden under the shirt covering the belly. I immediately purchased a few organic cotton t-shirts as the ones I have were not long enough to cover the growing belly and I don't like belly showing of course, to me it looks very trashy.

THE BEST MATERNITY CLOTHING STORES

When I got back to Barcelona mid September and I reviewed my Fall and Winter clothing I realized that majority of dresses, skirts and pants I have will not be to comfortable to wear during pregnancy so I decided to strategically research and shop online in the way that I don't spend to much on maternity clothing but still to have enough comfortable and chic essential pieces to stay warm and look stylish for the remaining 4 months of pregnancy and next couple of months of post pregnancy body recovery.

SERAPHINE MATERNITY

The next thing I purchased was an adorable 'The Bump Kit Paris' from Seraphine Maternity clothing store. The first impression I got of this store is that is classic, trendy but not to trendy, all the clothing looks comfortable and I loved that they have this Bump Kit with classic clothing essentials where you can choose your combination based on the fashion city and style you like the most. I got my order very quickly along with their branded cotton shopping bag.  Here is the video to show more ways to wear the Bump Kit:

I love everything in this kit, all of the items are made out of thick high quality cotton and they don't wrinkle so you don't have to iron them at all! I love that the tights I got are very soft and stretchy and seamless over the belly I wear them almost every day. I ordered size L although before pregnancy I wore S/M tops and M bottoms.

Tights and skirt a still a bit to big on me while dress and a shirt fit just perfectly so if you decide to order and haven't gained to much weight (I got 2.5 kg so far) go with your usual size as all of the items in the kit are stretchy and fit true to size.

ASOS

I ordered two pairs of sleeveless tops, 2 pair of tights and one dress from Asos Maternity shop.
All items were fair quality but the tights had a rubber band on top of the belly part which bothered me so I wear them in a way that I fold them under the belly.

A very chic, young mum friend of mine also recommended these stores as well:

Mamalicious - offers adorable chic dresses and you can also purchase full outfits, I selected some of my favorite pieces bellow. Prices are fair just like other mid tier brands for regular size clothing but all items are adjusted for your growing bump. There are also some really adorable pieces for babies & kids.

EMOI EMOI

Emoi Emoi has great selection of winter coats for mum's to be as well as jeans. The prices are very fair with jeans priced between 39 and 69 Euro. This french brand also has most adorable family sweatshirts for mum, dad and babies. :)

HATCH

Definitely most expensive but also most luxurious, stylish and most carefully curated store for mum's to be is Hatch. As a big cashmere fan and fabrication snob I would definitely recommend Hatch cashmere and knits selection and their 'Bags & Boxes' where you can get very high quality cotton items like hospital bag necessities for a good price.

INGRID ISABEL

When it comes to Ingrid Isabel I love their Active Wear shop with tights which provide great support for the back and coverage for the belly. Prices are mid to high and selection is rich especially when it comes to essentials, I just ordered seamless tops which I can wear during and after pregnancy with or without a bra which were reduced to only 15 Euro.

GILT

Gilt has a great multi-brand selection of discounted maternity clothing. I would definitely recommend it for evening wear. Bellow is my selection of three fab dresses.

It took me some time to get a feeling for Budapest and find things I love in Hungarian culture as I moved to live in Budapest primarily for work and my heart was and is still in Barcelona  where I live with my boyfriend for the second part of each month.

What really attracted me to Budapest, intrigued me and made me fall in love with the city are at the first place friendly people, my friends - young people of different cultures I got to meet, food, romantic and mesmerizing historic architecture and urban young and creative subculture I am looking forward to explore even more in upcoming weeks and months as I am KatWalking through Budapest.

For this particular shoot on Danube coast and by rivers beautiful bridges I choose my Summer favorite,   Lei Lou by Alex Dojcinovic floral tube dress 'Fani' with bra padding which I can wear with sandals for a stroll around Budapest, ballerinas for work or high heels and more elaborate jewelry for fun nights out.

“Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's needs, but not every man's greed.”
 Mahatma Gandhi

This week is Earth Week and everyone is trying to be a bit more mindful on how they use energy, throw their trash and consume daily consumer goods. Media is bombarding us with tips and tricks which I think are good to put on a pin board somewhere in the apartment or in the office as a reminder for the rest of the year as well.

A couple of things I do to care about environment more and my body as well is to walk wherever I can without using a car or any other mean of transportation, I bring water in my purse everywhere in my equa thin glass water bottle, recycle my trash and plant my own spices, I also bring my fashionable canvas Karl Lagerfeld bag with me in my purse for whenever I plan to do a grocery shopping after work.
I selected a couple of ways fashion industry gives back.

GIVING BACK TO COMMUNITY

Fashion industry is known to be not just very creative but also actionable and generous when giving back, and doing so in organized and transparent matter.

I know that every time you walk down the street someone is asking you to donate, sign or commit to a charity cause. My way of thinking about it and choosing if I will engage is that it is equally important to investigate and truly personally believe in the cause, to make sure that if you are donating your time or money it is for the cause you are passionate about and believe it.

“I am excited to see so many of my friends and CFDA designers use these hearts as a blank canvas for their unique creative expression to raise money. Together, we believe in the brilliant artistry of a country filled with some of the most creative people I have ever met.”

Donna Karan

One of my favorite recent projects are Donna Karen and CFDA project initiated on Valentines day and still ongoing called Fashion for Heiti: One Million Hearts. Over 160 fashion designers participated in this project by decorating custom papier-mache hearts which are now auctioned off on Ebay.com until May 2nd to raise money for Donna Karen's Urban Zero foundation dedicated to creating jobs and enhancing education of Haiti’s artisans.

CARING FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

Consumerism and constant need for shopping is creating a demand for mass production, which includes mass resource extraction, fabrication, distribution, and eventually, disposal. This system is not at all sustainable and it creates a bit amounts of waste in energy and products.

Have you ever wondered what upcycled clothing is? After listening to CFDA Earth Day Google + chat  I started to investigate more about it. Upcycled clothing is the green, environmentally and socially conscious side to the fashion industry which is sweeping the youth generation of today, you could notice on Ebay that some clothes are marked as upcycled clothes. To upcycle clothes simply means to redesign, rework, and recreate clothing pieces that would have otherwise been thrown away.

Some of the negative consequences of factory-made, mass-produced, or  even worse sweatshop made clothing include the need for it to be made long distances away (where workforce is cheap) the lack of sustainability and temptation to always buy more (aka our consumerism), and the ignorance that occurs when we buy a product and have no idea where, or how, it is made.
Great examples of this practice after a number of complaints for unsustainable practices is H&M with their Garden collection launched in 2010. and then Conscious collection a year later. Also, TopShop has launches their Reclaim to wear collection made out of upcycled materials.

Last 10 days or so I was slacking with posting regularly due to busy work schedule which I tried to balance with couple of days of vacation and finally spending some time with my boyfriend. I had a lovely press event planned for one of my companies brands last Wednesday in the gorgeously luxurious Radisson Blu Resort & Spa in Dubrovnik, so I used the weekend before that to spend time visiting my boyfriend and his parents who also live in Dubrovnik.

On Saturday we went to the amazing island of Lapad, where we were swimming in the lake at the very centar of the island, had amazing Mojitos on the beach and spend our time at the island surrounded by gorgeous peacocks.

Naturally, I used the opportunity when my boyfriend was working out to ask his mum to show me his childhood photos. Wasn't "she" cute? ;)

Late at Wednesday night I got back to Zagreb to work, so I had to calm down my after mini-vacation depression with some lovely neon nail polish I got in H&M Madrid a month ago when visiting my boyfriend at the end of his play season. So, this was marked as neon Thursday. ;)

On Friday I naturally had to catch up with pilled up email on my blog email account as well as on the work one so I worked late but also had to catch up with cleaning after arriving back to my apartment so I did a little valet cleaning and emptied my change to fill up my Shoe fund (yes my boyfriend has one to, his sneakers collection is almost as vast as my heels collection).

After my Spanish class on Friday evening I was dead tired but still had to work on preparing games and decorations for my sister baby shower (she is pregnant and due beginning of August with little boy who's name will be Lovro). This is the Pampers cake I made for her.

After fun baby shower my mum used the opportunity when I was visiting her (shower was held at her house) to pile me up with cooked meals, cakes, fruits and vegetables from her garden to feed a small army. :) She is especially proud of her spices and berries.

Today, Sunday I planned as a relaxing day so I invited my friends Iva and Ljiljana for coffe and cake, I also managed to do a small shopping and to color my nails with H&M's "Blue my Mind" shade of blue for next work new work week adventure. :)

How was your week lovelies?
